Our owner Dr Lothar Becker was awarded the “Attractive Employer Rhineland-Palatinate” certification by the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Economic Affairs. This seal of approval with its 50 individual criteria is regarded as a safe and reliable selection criterion when booking a hotel suitable for business travellers. Even discerning business travellers can rely on modern core services and experience friendly and attentive service.

In its 67 mandatory criteria, this seal of approval primarily defines quality in relation to the services and processes that a conference hotel must provide today. At the heart of the certificate and the criteria are, among other things, the support services, the structural conditions and the F&B services as well as the standardised offer processing and the standardised billing process. Event organisers experience planning security and know that all their guests’ needs and requirements will be met.

This seal of approval defines in 70 individual criteria how sustainably and ecologically forward-looking a hotel is managed. In eight categories – energy, water, waste, food & drink, mobility, social responsibility and information and management – the hotel faces up to the challenges of the future. Most of the criteria can be recognised by the guests themselves.

With the “TOP Training Company” initiative, DEHOGA is creating a nationwide standardised certification for a high standard of training for the first time – and both applicants and companies in the hotel and catering industry benefit from this. The participating companies undertake to comply with 12 guiding principles and to put them into practice in their operations. This is concretised by the measures in the company (company survey) for the respective guiding principles and evaluated using a points system. The “DEHOGA Environmental Check” was designed for the specific requirements of the hospitality industry and its predominantly small and medium-sized businesses. It is based on the evaluation of selected environmental indicators. The catalogue of criteria covers the following areas: Energy consumption, water consumption, waste generation and food (e.g. regional, fair trade, organic). Differentiated threshold values and requirements for the bronze, silver and gold award levels are defined for each of the four categories. The individual characteristics of the businesses are fully taken into account.

Our trainees and our teaching of specialised content were also honoured.

Our Atrium Genusswerkstatt was awarded 9.7 out of a possible 10 caps, putting it on a par with the Michelin-starred restaurant Steins Traube. “Creativity, craftsmanship, quality and appearance of the food: Everything is at the highest level in the Genusswerkstatt at the Atriumhotel.”

DER MAINZER honours the Atrium Restaurant with 9.4 caps (out of 10)! “Something is happening on the gastronomic horizon! Helge Straub, the new head chef at the Atrium Hotel (Atrium Restaurant) in the “mountain village” of Finthen, has set out to climb further culinary peaks.”

“Owner-managed private hotel with a feel-good ambience and exemplary guest service”. The personal atmosphere in all areas of the hotel gives it an unmistakable flavour. The rooms impress with their design and comfort.

We took first place in the category “Hotels 100 – 200 rooms”. The “Germany’s best conference hotels” award was organised in cooperation with Deutscher Fachverlag and tp tagungsplaner. Of a total of 2000 hotels surveyed, 271 were honoured. Five sub-aspects were analysed to assess the best conference hotels in Germany. Four of these sub-aspects reflect the course of a conference visit: arrival at the conference hotel, the conference area, the catering offer and, if applicable, the overnight stay in the hotel. In addition, the aspect of sustainability is taken into account as an indication of the future-orientation of the hotels.

We were the first hotel in Rhineland-Palatinate to be certified as a Fair Job Hotel in February 2017. Fair Job Hotels stand for fair jobs, attractive prospects for young talent and a better image of the hotel industry. As a certified hotel, we have anchored the “FAIRsprechen” and the “10 commandments” in our organisation.

The renowned gastronomy guide “falstaff” also rated our gastronomic offer in 2025. With a first-class score of 89 points, our Atrium Genusswerkstatt is in third place in Mainz, only just behind the starred restaurants in Mainz. Our Atrium Restaurant also received a top score of 86 points!

“Gault&Millau” has awarded two red toques and thus a “high degree of culinary artistry, creativity and quality” to both the Mainz starred restaurant Steins Traube at and the Genusswerkstatt in the Hotel Atrium in Mainz. This means that both awards go to Finthen” (source: merkurist.de)

Our wine list has been honoured! In the “Best National Selection” category, we were honoured with the “Grand Selection Award – WINE LIST 2025”, receiving 4 out of a possible 5 grapes.
